Monitoring Services
The principals of Thacher Associates pioneered the use of monitors on multibillion-dollar construction projects. Building on this experience and success, we offer an extensive range of integrity monitoring programs across different industries—moving far beyond the use of monitors as mere policemen.
Project Integrity Monitoring
Companies sometimes take on specific projects that, due to their sheer size or the nature of the industry involved, are subject to significant integrity risks. Thacher Associates can help reduce or eliminate exposure with customized monitoring programs designed to protect reputations and assets by preventing improper or unethical conduct. Programs include:
- Screening of vendors, contractors and consultants
- Enhancement of project-specific internal controls
- Spot-audits to detect fraudulent/unethical conduct
When integrity concerns about contractors or vendors arise midway through a contract, companies and government agencies can find themselves in a difficult situation. Historically, they have had two choices—neither optimal. Terminate the contract and suffer a financial loss, or ignore the behavior and risk the consequences. Thacher Associates offers a third, far more promising, solution: require the contractor, as a condition of continued engagement, to retain an integrity monitor throughout completion of the project.
The IPSIG concept was originally designed by Thacher Associates' principals during their tenure at the New York City School Construction Authority, and is used to rehabilitate companies on the verge of closing their doors due to their former involvement in criminal enterprises. Thacher Associates has served effectively as IPSIG on numerous publicly and privately-funded projects.
Thacher Associates will help design and serve as a:
- Company self-imposed monitor
- Court-appointed monitor
- Government-imposed monitor
